If ever there were a scent that embodied girl power, it’s Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next fragrance. The perfume, created in partnership with LUXE Brands, will launch exclusively on Ulta.com and in stores nationwide at Ulta Beauty in the United States and Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada.
The fragrance Thank U, Next (1.7 fl. oz/ $52) is a sequel of sorts to Grande’s smash hit single “thank u, next”. The song debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and currently boasts over 417 million views. “Thank u, next” has become an anthem for people everywhere, encouraging them to move on from bad relationships and find love again with the person who matters the most — themselves.
Says Grande in a press release: “I wanted to make a fragrance that smells related to my first fragrance Ari but more summery, so I revisited Ari’s fruity pear and raspberry notes and changed it up by adding some coconut. I was inspired to design a bottle that represented the message of my song “thank u next” – the emergence of the perfume from the broken heart represents moving forward from a challenging chapter.”
As for the scent itself, it features top notes of white pear and wild raspberry, while a crème de coconut and pink rose petals are at the heart of the fragrance. Finally, Thank U, Next leaves you with the sweet scent of macaroon sugar and a velvet musk. It’s at once floral and sassy, sexy and sweet. There’s a lot of layers to the fragrance, much like Grande herself.
And let’s just talk about that packaging for a moment. The box features the words “thank u, next” in bold black letters surrounded by white broken letters. On either side of the box are pics of Grande, who won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. The typography alone is stellar. And as for the bottle itself, well, it’s absolutely adorable. The perfume sits inside a cracked, broken heart, but it’s not sad. It’s actually pretty and empowering.
