Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Beat the egg whites until stiff. Set aside.
Mix together cake flour, cocoa, salt, and baking soda.
In a separate bowl, mix the wet ingredients: egg yolks, milk/water, pureed tomatoes, and vanilla.
Mix together the wet and dry ingredients until blended.
Fold egg whites gently into the batter.
Grease 2 8-inch round cake pans.
Bake cakes for 40 minutes. Let cool.
Wash and pat dry strawberries.
Once the cakes are cooled, add frosting in between the layers. Place strawberry slices on top of frosting.
Place the second cake on top of the first.
Frost all around the cake with your kids.
Slice and enjoy.
