The Baby Shark Hand Washing Song Will Keep Your Kid’s Hands Clean (Doo Doo Doo)

Just when you thought that it was safe to go back in the water, Baby Shark is back. Pinkfong! released not one, but three new YouTube videos that are designed to help your child improve his hygiene and keep his hands clean. And these Baby Shark hand washing videos are, not shockingly, as addictive as the original song. (Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo.)

The Pinkfong! “Wash Your Hands With Baby Shark” YouTube video has all the elements of the original song that kids know and love. The beat is still the same, along with, yes, the infamous “doo doo dooo doo doo doo.” But in this version of the song, the lyrics have been updated to teach children how to have good hand hygiene.

“Grab some soap

Doo doo dooo doo doo doo

Rub your hands

Doo doo dooo doo doo doo

Rinse your hands

Doo doo dooo doo doo doo

Dry your hands

Doo doo dooo doo doo doo.”

Once your child’s hands are nice and clean, the sharks ask what else they can do to stay healthy and safe. The song continues with the lyrics:

“Cover your sneeze

Doo doo dooo doo doo doo

Cough into your elbow

Doo doo dooo doo doo doo.”

The only lyric that’s still the same from the original song is the “Safe at last” line, which, sadly, now takes on an entirely new meaning, thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic. To end on a positive note, the song’s last line is: “Let’s stay healthy!” This version of the song runs for almost two minutes, and has a second mini video playing in the bottom right of the video showing people how to wash their hands.

But let’s say that almost two minutes of washing their hands is not going to keep your kiddo entertained — or scrubbing. No worries, Pink Fong already thought of that. That’s why they released a second, shortened 20-second video. “20 Seconds Hand Washing Song” is a completely sped up version of the original Baby Shark song. It plays the original song in its entirety while subtitles splash across the screen telling your child how to wash their hands.

But if we had to make a choice, we’re guessing that the 20-second “Baby Shark Hand Washing” song will be the winner among the preschool set. It’s going to make kids have to scrub super fast, and they’ll probably love all the suds, splashing, and silliness that will surely ensue from washing their cute little hands in 20 seconds or less.

So if you’re tired of singing “Happy Birthday” for the umpteenth time while your child washes their hands, take the #babysharkhandwashchallenge. Your little shark’s fins (er, hands) will be clean—and singing “doo doo doo” all over again is just a small price to pay for proper hygiene.
