If you’re a new mom, you know that the first few weeks can give you cabin fever. But even if you’re a sleep-deprived mom, you should be careful when taking your baby outside. A University of Alabama at Birmingham study found that your risk of getting hit or injured by a car rises by 6 percent if you’re gabbing on your cell phone. Think that’s bad? If you’re texting, that number rises dramatically to 19 percent, and it skyrockets to a staggering 27 percent if you’re listening to your latest jam on iTunes. So be careful when taking your baby outside for a stroll and stay alert at all times for both your safety and the safety of your baby.
