Holding their head up. Perfecting their pincer grasp. Sitting up — without tumbling over. There are so many milestones that Baby will experience in their first year of life, but none might be as momentous as when your little one utters their first real word. And to celebrate your child’s first attempt at speech, you might need Instagram captions when your baby says “Dada” for the first time.
Which is great if you’re, well, the dad. For some moms, though, hearing their baby say “Dada” for the first time can evoke a slight feeling of envy. After all, if you’re spending the majority of the time tending to your child, you might think, “Really?” But don’t be too disappointed: the “Da” sound can be easier for your baby to say. And because babies are still learning to view themselves as separate from their mamas, saying “Mama” is a developmental milestone that has to be learned over time.
Regardless, it’s still exciting when your baby says “Dada” for the first time. So head to your social media and use some of these Instagram captions to share the good news.
“That’s my boy!”
A proud papa might use this caption to convey how pleased they are with their child’s first word. Cue a cute (and very gentle) high five to your tiny friend.
“This brought tears to my eyes.”
It’s hard to hold back the waterworks when your cherub cheerfully says, “Dada.” Share those sweet emotions (and moments) with your friends and fam on IG. They’ll probably use the teary-eyed emoji, too.
“Like father, like son.”
When your hubs is a total chatterbox, it won’t be a surprise when his mini mumbles “Dada.”
“Couldn’t be prouder.”
And how could you not be? Speech often starts between 12-18 months, which can be a long wait if your kiddo isn’t talking yet. Who cares what they say — as long as they’re saying something.
“Wonder what the next four-letter word is going to be.”
Someone cuts you off while you’re on the highway (despite the fact that you have a pretty prominent Baby on Board sign) on your car. You understandably let loose with a flurry of four-letter words which you then hope Baby didn’t hear. While Baby might be happily chewing on their teething toy, they heard every single word. So now it’s a waiting game to see when those colorful words come out — which they will.
“Dada for the win!”
You made a small wager with your partner on which name your baby would say first. When Baby says “Dada,” it’s time for you to dish out those dollars.
“Watch what happens when Momma is away.”
In a moment of sheer serendipity, your baby said, “Dada” while you went out to get some baby-free time. If your partner hadn’t caught it on video, you might not believe it. Truth be told, you think there might have been some serious editing to that vid.
“This will be our secret, little buddy.”
You’ve seen your partner trying to get your baby to say, “Dada” almost every day. Baby finally says it, and somehow your partner thinks he can keep it from you. He shares the sweet video on social but forgot one thing: you follow each other on Instagram.
“When your baby’s first word is Dada after 24 hours of labor.”
Between hemorrhoids and episiotomy stitches, your baby owes you. Hearing “Dada” first means that your baby is going to grow up hearing all about your arduous labor for years to come.
“Of course, her first word was ‘Dada.’ She looks just like him.”
Baby knows that she got her good looks from her pops — and plenty more from her momma, too.
“Dad: 1. Mom: 0.”
For the sports fanatic father, there’s no better way for them to share the good news than by turning it into a fun game. Even though Dad might be leading, never underestimate the power of a mom who makes it her business to get Baby to say “Mama.”
“He’s a momma’s boy but his first word was still ‘Dada.’”
Sure, it would have been nice if your baby’s first word was “Mama,” but you’re genuinely happy that your partner got the first word. Thing is, you’ll always have the last one.
“Zero loyalty.”
Your boobs have been on call for months now (and you’ve got the cracked nipples to prove it). While it can feel like a letdown (ha), hearing “Dada” from your darling’s mouth just means that they’re connected to their daddy, too.
“Mom: Carries Baby for 9 months, gives birth, does everything to keep Baby healthy and happy.
Baby’s first word: Dada.”
Ungrateful little guy (or girl).
“His first word might be “Dada,” but his first love is definitely ‘Mama.’”
You know those gummy smiles are just for you. So it doesn’t really matter that “Mama” might be your baby’s second word. “Dada” is adorable for the first one.
“Grrr.”
Enough said.
