Actress Amy Locane is one busy mama. Between being a full-time mommy to her 2 year-old daughter, Paige Cricket, with husband Mark Bovenizer, and having recently wrapped up filming the short Coffee, Amy, 36, is truly a modern working mom. Amy sat down exclusively with Celebrity Parents Magazine to talk about pregnancy, competitive parenting, and how she promises to not let Paige put the new baby in the refrigerator.

Amy, how has the pregnancy been going so far?

It’s been great. I’m due February 13th. I keep thinking that I’m two weeks further along than I actually am. When you’re pregnant, you have a tendency to want time to go by faster! Overall, I feel energetic, with a sense of purpose. I feel pretty full.

Did you find out the sex of the baby?

No, we didn’t. With Paige I found out, but since I know this will be my last pregnancy, I want to mix it up and not find out. When you have your first baby, everything is so new and exciting. To not know the sex will be exciting, and keep me inspired for the last couple months of the pregnancy.

You look fabulous. How have you stayed in shape?

I’ve been running, pushing Paige in the jogger and carrying this little one.

You ran during the first pregnancy, too.

I love to run. It helps to clear my mind. It’s very peaceful for me.

Running after a toddler keeps you healthy, too.

Definitely. I could say that running after Paige keeps me fit, but it also tires me out! And picking her up all the time has given me some pretty toned arms!

Have you had any weird cravings?

Cheese, cheese and more cheese. I was eating pizza every day, but then it got out of hand. I started making myself some cheese and tomato omelets instead. I’ve also been craving Orange Tic Tacs like crazy.

Are you a big orange Tic Tac person?

Yeah, when I was 10!

What do you have planned career-wise?

I did a play last year in the area, which was wonderful. I recently finished filming a short called Coffee. We did the short here in New Jersey. It was so much fun, just to be creative. I missed it more than I thought I would. It’s in my blood.

Do you think you’ll move back to L.A. to act again?

I lovelovelove where I live! I always knew that I’d settle here. I love that I can get into Manhattan quickly to go to auditions. I don’t want to be naïve and think that it’ll be easy to juggle acting and family. It’s doable, though.

It’s good to continue your career, or even just have something that is your own. It makes you more balanced, and in turn a better mother.

How is Joe, your Yorkie?

He’s great. He’s about 14 now. That is the dog of my life. He’s survived my 20’s, which was a huge growing period. I used to take him on the movie sets with me.

A few years ago, Joe was hit by a truck. No one thinks he’s 14. I run him every day. He’s very spry for an old man. Joe is the first man in my life. If he could talk, the stories he would tell!

What do you think life will be like when the new baby comes?

I’m an only child, so I’m looking forward to seeing that whole sibling dynamic. I’ve heard it’s really tough, and your world can be turned upside-down. I know it will take a while.

I know Mark will help me a lot. He’s very hands-on and is a wonderful father to Paige. Mark owns a business here in town, so it’s comforting to have him nearby in case I need him.

It would be exciting if you have another girl.

I talk to my friends about soon having two children, and I get all different kinds of responses. I was in all these playgroups with women who compared their children to other children. I didn’t want to keep talking about different methods of sleep all the time!

Women can be very competitive, especially with their children. You have to lead with your heart. You can have all the tools and resources, but I’m not a big advocate of it. I don’t want to put too much pressure on my child. I want Paige to be herself.

How do you think Paige, The Big Sister, will be?

I bought her a doll, so she could have her own baby to play with. My mother bought her a bottle to show her how to feed the baby. Everything was going fine until one day the stroller and the baby flew down the stairs! Another time, I found the baby in the refrigerator.

Ah, that’s just normal sisterly love.

I just don’t want the baby to wind up in the refrigerator. I won’t let it happen, trust me!
