Lisa Leslie isn’t shooting an airball when it comes to her kids’ eating habits. The three-time WNBA MVP and a four-time Olympic gold medal winner recently teamed up with Boston Market to help families make healthier food choices. We spoke to Lisa about her brand ambassadorship, how to handle picky eaters, and her plans for the future.

How did your partnership with Boston Market come to be?

I started eating Boston Market in college and love the healthy choices so it was a natural partnership.

What advice would you give parents who have picky eaters who prefer fried foods?

I am just really upset that kids menus are all filled with fried foods, pizza, and other bad foods. We create bad habits early and then expect kids to outgrow them and eat healthily as an adult. It doesn’t make sense. Boston Market has more than 100 options under 550 calories, which is great.

For super busy moms who don’t have time to cook at all, how would you simply dress up a rotisserie chicken?

I make all sorts of recipes, from rotisserie chicken tacos to yummy salads. The great thing about Boston Market Rotisserie Chicken is that you can eat it by itself or incorporate into some great recipes.

How did you decide to “take a side against fried”? What prompted that decision?

As a working mom, I know how important it is to have healthy options you can just grab and take home to your kids. Sometimes, when I am coming home from broadcasting, I stop by Boston Market and pick up a Boston Market Rotisserie Chicken and a bunch of vegetables sides that I can feel good about feeding to my family.

Congratulations on your upcoming induction into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame! What does that mean to you, both as a player and as a woman?

I am really humbled and excited to be a part of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. It took a lot of hard work but I did not get here alone. I had so much support from teammates, coaches and family. It seems unfair that only I get an award.

What are your plans for the future?

I am a wife, mother, businesswoman and philanthropist. My plans for the future are to give my all in everything I do. My next project, though, is my second book, which should come out later this year.
