C. Brower & Co. is one of the most successful event and wedding planning services in New York City. Each of their events is custom-designed to suit their upscale clientele. Celebrity Parents spoke with Christine Brower, the creator of C. Brower & Co. to talk about their success story.
Were you always into the arts?
Yes, I was always into the arts; I loved painting and drawing. I grew up in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, in a very creative family. After graduating high school, I attended New York University’s Tisch School of Arts where I took courses in scenic design, lighting, staging, set, and costume design.
Life took some interesting turns, and I wound up working in the field of photography and then later on, at a NYC hospital. I would help to plan the departmental events. Everyone thought the events were amazing and would ask me, “Why aren’t you doing this for a living?” I thought, “Yes, why am I not doing this for a living?” So I decided to go back to NYU and pursue Special Events Management. I launched C. Brower & Co Creative Events after that, and we are now celebrating our two year anniversary.
How is business today at C. Brower & Co.?
The business is doing really well! We do a lot of corporate and social events. We’ve won several awards for our events. In addition to planning and producing beautiful and successful events, our company has grown to include design and décor. That is my true passion.
We’ve been fortunate enough to work on some incredible events with some high profile and celebrity clients, but we also love to work on events for the community. Our most recent work was the photography for the West End Intergenerational Residence True Colors Events with Cyndi Lauper and Carson Kressley. The foundation supports homeless and formerly homeless young mothers, battered women, youth and senior citizens. It was a huge success!
What makes C. Brower & Co. stand out from other companies?
We never design the same event twice. We give all of our clients’ individualized attention and provide innovative and imaginative designs for them. Every facet of their event is custom-tailored to truly reflect their personal style. C. Brower & Co.’s mission is to provide the “wow factor” and we deliver that every time. No matter what the client wants, we are the “make-it-happen” people!
What would you tell someone who is interested in going into event planning?
The most important thing is to do the research on what it takes to own and operate your own business. It’s essential to work on a business and marketing plan first. You also have to assess how much time you can realistically devote to your business. Above all else though, be sure to always put your family first.
