During the long and painful winter, you rocked pantsuits and sweaters. But now that spring is finally here, you need to update your wardrobe — and put a little spring in your step at the office, too. Style expert Jennifer Dayan offers five ways busy working moms can revamp their wardrobes fast, easy, and affordably!

The Blazer

This is the working women’s best friend. Throw it over almost anything- a dress, pants, skirt and you look instantly professional. Get a few to rotate daily. Red, Navy, and of course black to become office ready in seconds. If you’re unsure how to pick your perfect style, “Always make sure the blazer is fitted at the waist to stay feminine and to avoid looking boxy,” says Dayan. “If you prefer to cover your bottom, go for a longer style but it should never be longer then your fist with your arm at your side.” Why? Well, where the shoulder to arm seem hits on your body is very important. It should hit you exactly where your shoulder meets your arm. If it hits higher, it’s too small. If it hits lower, it’s too big. If you have a narrow framed body, you should look for shoulder pads to create a hourglass shape. Women with broad shoulders would look best with no shoulder pad at all.

Buy A Fresh Scarf

The quickest way to change up your wardrobe for spring it to put on a great scarf. It’s the outfit finisher and keeps you classic and professional looking. “Figure out what colors look best on your skin tone,” advises Dayan. “Bright colors always brighten up your face.” If you’re unsure how to wear a scarf, a long rectangle is the easiest to wear — simply loop it and put it over your head. And just as important as the color and shape of a scarf is the material. It should be soft and not scratch your skin. If possible, try to get a thicker scarf, since very thin material can come off looking cheap, not chic.

The Soft Pant

Fitted but not tight, comfortable but not sloppy, a soft pant can be super chic, and can be worn dressed down or dressed up in minutes. They come in a wide variety of fabrics, such as leather, silk, crepe, cotton, rayon or polyester. “Curvy bodies should choose a wider leg, and not be so fitted at the bottom, because this helps to balance the hips,” says Dayan. “Straighter bodies can go very narrow at the ankle, and make sure they are fitted but not tight.” When you’re deciding on which soft pant to purchase, it’s a good idea to try before you buy. “Look at yourself in the back – try to avoid a saggy look,” adds Dayan. “Pants should softly compliment you.”

Fit and Flare Dress

Very on trend, the fit and flare dress takes you from office to dinner in seconds. “The fit and flare dress comes to the rescue by being both fast and flattering!,” says Dayan. “My favorite part about it is you can change it up in so many ways. ” Add a blazer, cardigan, or sweater to make it look like a top and skirt. You can even accessorize it with a belt, necklace, or a fun shoe. “Treat your fit and flare dress like a canvas, making it interchangeable looking different every time,” says Dayan.

Shoes

Be the envy of all your co-workers by having a comfortable, stylish, fresh new pair of shoes for spring!  Picking  your perfect pair is pretty simple, according to Dayan. “You’ll need a little lift,” she says. “A small heel is both more flattering and more comfortable than a flat.” Opting for a neutral shoe that will go with most of your outfits is a must. “For spring, I love a nude pump; it makes my legs took longer and it doesn’t compete with my outfit.” she adds. If you’re on your feet a lot, try on a half a size bigger and put in a pad to save your feet (and back) from throbbing at the end of the day.
