Of all the kid-friendly foods out there, burgers are basically at the top of the list. And it’s easy to see why: you’ve got bread, cheese, and a meat patty, all perfectly packaged in a portable bun. That’s what makes these brownie burgers such a fun dessert. They look identical to the real thing, except that they’re made with even more fun foods that kids love, like cupcakes, brownies, and icings. Yum.
When you’re grilling, you don’t necessarily want your children around super hot surfaces (and ack, an open flame). But you won’t have to kick your kiddos out of the kitchen when you make brownie burgers, though. It’s a sweet activity that you can do with kids of any age, like having little ones use a round cookie cutter to form the “patties”, or having an older child slice the cupcakes in half horizontally. And everyone will have a blast taking frosting and adding food coloring to create the mustard and ketchup, and then scooping it into a pastry bag, or a plastic bag with the tip snipped.
So instead of cracking open the cookie jar, or scooping some ice cream, take the time to bake and decorate these brownie burgers. They just might make you crave a real burger afterwards.
