Corals and creamy colors come to mind when you think of spring colors for mani/pedis. But you don’t have to ditch darker hues simply because of the warmer temps. In fact, a dark pedi can give your tootsies a decidedly sophisticated look. Here’s how to rock a dark pedicure during spring.
Don’t go too dark.
Sure, you love your red wine nail polish (like Essie’s Thigh High ruby red polish), but deep reds and blacks should really be reserved for a winter look. Instead, opt for deep blues, such as navy, as well as dark purples. You can even go for a deep chocolate brown, which can play well with other summer colors, such as oranges and golds.
Go glossy.
Matte colors will look dull in the sunshine, so make sure to gloss over your nails with a shiny topcoat. Even better: choose one that has UV filters, like Zoya’s Armor Top Coat. Dash over your nails every other day to keep them sparkly.
Hand it over.
While you can match your manicure to your pedicure, you don’t want to go too dark during the spring (unless you have a special nighttime event that you’re attending). You can choose a color that’s neutral or a nude. Pale colors work best, since they won’t compete with your pedicure. Or simply have clean, trimmed fingernails sans nail polish.
Care for your nails.
Between caring for your kiddos and running all over, your pedicure can take a real bruising. So be careful to avoid getting chips in your nails, which can make your look sloppy, not chic. Fill in cracks and chips when necessary for a perfectly polished look.
