How to Wake Up Looking Like You Got 8 Hours Of Sleep When You Didn’t

The alarm goes off in the morning. You stumble out of bed and into the bathroom, where the reflection facing back at you doesn’t even look like you. Frizzy hair, smeared eye makeup, dark undereye circles—and is that a Fruit Loop stuck to your cheek? Parenting and early mornings are not a thing of beauty…until now. Wake up beautiful each and every morning with these tips.

Wash Your Face

Your nights are a mix of baths, homework, reading to your kids, and finally getting them to bed before you crash on the couch. Often, your face gets neglected in favor of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. But washing your face before bed is a smart beauty move—not only does it remove your makeup and dirt, but it prevents you from waking up with a zit, clogged pores, or even bloodshot eyes.

Score Some Sleep

It might seem like a contradiction in terms, but really, one of the best ways to look rested is to, well, rest. Scoring eight hours of sleep a night will help you to look refreshed in the morning. If you have a hard time falling asleep, scent your sheets with lavender oil, which is soothing. Melatonin can also help you get a full night’s sleep, and feel refreshed for the morning.

Put Yourself In A Better Position

Sure, you love sleeping on your stomach, but it won’t make you look like a rockstar come morning. Snoozing on your tummy takes a toll on your face, causing puffiness and super deep creases on your face. So sleep on your side or your back instead for a picture-perfect face.

Get Physical

Skip the blush and get some natural color by adding a short exercise routine to your morning. Whether it’s a brisk walk around the block with your puppy or some 6:00 a.m. yoga, physical movement will help get your heart pumping, giving you a beautiful glow and increased energy, too.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

If you want to get gorj, you’ll need to drink water…and lots of it. Not only does water flush out the toxins in your body, but it can also hydrate your skin, plumping it and giving your face a smoother, firmer look. Obvs, you should strive to drink at least eight glasses of water a day, but a glass right when you wake up can also help hydrate you and make you look amazing in the a.m.
